Tasting - Rosemont Winery Pinot Grigio

Name: Rosemont Winery Pinot Grigio (Tasted at Old Virginia Gourmet Wine Shop)
Variety: Pinot Grigio
Region: Virginia
Country: United States
Year: 2011
Price: $15.50

Shop Review (Olde Virginia Gourmet - Stafford, Virginia): A crisp and refreshing, light white wine with aromas of green apple and citrus. A light body with a crisp citrus taste and bright clean finish. Pairs well with seafood, mild cheeses and fruit.

My Review: I am somewhat picky about whether or not I like certain Pinot Grigios, usually depending on whether or not they are dry. This wine in particular was crisp and light rather than dry, and although it was not extremely sweet, it had a good fruity flavor, which was also encompassed by the nose. We paired the wine with Havarti and Gouda, and I really enjoyed the way that the Havarti cheese brought out the fruit flavors in the wine. I was definitely surprised by how much a food pairing changed and enhanced this wine.
